Make It Monday: DIY Jewelry Dish

DIY diy project diy style handmade blogger handmade craft handmade gifts how to jewelry dish Style the pink locket

Jewelry dishes come in such handy.  As a matter of fact, I keep one by my kitchen sink so that I can store my rings while I was dishes.  It’s a great inexpensive way to help store jewelry that you wear everyday.  For today’s Make It Monday I’m going to show you how to create a simple and of course personalized jewelry dish.  Here’s a layout of the materials you’ll need.  This jewelry dish I created for my niece as a birthday gift.

Materials: Molding clay, glitter, sharpie pen (whatever color you choose), stamping set, glitter and rolling pin or bottle (not pictured), cookie cutter (not pictured)

DIY Jewelry Dish 1

1.  Using bottle or rolling pin, roll out clay and use cookie cutter to cut out shape.

2. Using your fingers slowly pinch a fold edge of clay upwards to create the “dish” effect.

3.  Now stamp the clay with whatever name, words or saying you like.

4.  Lightly shake some glitter and use your fingers to lightly press into the clay.

5.  Bake at 265 degrees for about 10 minutes and allow to cool afterwards for about 5 minutes.

6. Use your sharpie to color around the rim of the dish.  I used Sharpie paint marker in gold.

7.  This is optional, but I also used a little Mod Podge to glaze the dish afterwards.  It gave it a nice sheen effect.
